Dean Altshuler, PhD, CFA

Dean Altshuler has provided real estate consulting services as an independent consultant since 1994. Clients have included investment managers, buy-side REIT analysis firms, loan brokers, mortgage and investment bankers, pension funds, developers, universities, as well as other consulting firms needing more focused expertise. Prior to starting his own practice, Dr. Altshuler was the director of real estate research with TCW Realty Advisors, then one of the nation’s largest real estate investment managers.

Over the years, Dr. Altshuler has developed a niche area of specialization in performance measurement and reporting. He has created dozens of user-friendly, but highly sophisticated financial models to assist clients in conducting asset-level due diligence and optimizing their portfolios. Dr. Altshuler is a member of the faculty of the NCREIF Academy, as the instructor for the Performance Measurement and Client Reporting module.

Dr. Altshuler maintains his own independent consulting practice, but his work for institutional clients has been performed through Bard Consulting since 2006.
